I stripped the tank and found a hole  :)

I will have to solder it.

On related topic, what is your prefered body filler?   I mean auto body, not bacon, biscuits and gravy.  ;D

Maybe braze it or use silver solder?

Working on the tank, the deer imprint is filled in and now it is the primer/sanding/primer/sanding....

Not sure what color I will go with and if I want to paint the Don Vesco fairing the same.

Making headway!

Trying.  She is boxed for too long already.  Lapped valves for #1 and set oil there to check.

Well done! Ahead of me, still waiting for my head from vapour blasting!

Twelve hours later.  There was not a single drop after 3 hours.  I wonder if the colder night had anything  to do with it.  Not a big deal, I will revisit 2,3 and 4 with fine lapping compound.

Now, the head is easy, but I still don't know what to do about cylinders and pistons/rings.

What was the red liquid? Did it stay thin?
If so, seems that you are in good shape.

Gasoline works too, plus it will stay thin as the temperature goes down.

I would not leave gas like this over night.

I use a bit of varsol. It’s so thin, I only wait a few minutes. If it doesn’t leak, pour it into a bowl and test the next one.

Same idea with gasoline, late 60's and 70's that was what I used before I got into 2- strokes.

Little bit more lapping, tested with rubbing alcohol and not a single drop in two hours.  Done with that one, now what?
