New Tires.
« on: April 28, 2011, 04:56:52 pm »
I just ordered my new s11's.  I dont really want to change them myself but i want to save the money I would spend having the local shop do it.  I hope they dont kick my butt!

When I bought my CB750K6 over a year ago it had almost a new  Dunlope 404 on the frt, but a mismatched older tire on rear. There is a Cycle Gear near my house and they have decent prices on tires so I got a new Dunlope 404 for the rear. They mtn. and balanced it for only $20.00. Not a bad deal of course it might be a little more now. They will not take the wheel off your bike that's up to you to do that.

I called around and total it would be about $325 with tubes and strips and everything.  I got the tires and all from chapparel for about $150 and I can get them balanced for $5 a pop.  So I guess I gotta try on my own.

:o...did they at least have the common decency for a reach around?   :P
make some more calls 500, be ready to take in just your rims and new tires.
mount and balance should be around $30/per tire, maybe $10 more ea. for tubes/strips.
dont pay more.

If you take the wheels off yourself you shouldn't have to pay more than $25 or $30 per rim for mounting and balancing.  Add $10-$12 each for new tubes and a couple more bucks for rim strips.  Even at the high end you're still only up to 90 bucks.

Call them back and tell them what kind of bike the wheels are off of.  I think they may have quoted you the "harley" price. ;) ;D
