Big MPG improvement with smaller jets

I've been told a few times that it smells like my 350F is running rich.  I had increased the mains to 80s from the stock 75s to get more power (at the suggestion of a local shop), and it definitely worked.  The bike had noticeably more power, but it really smelled for anyone behind me.  It was also very apparent when I had a passenger on the back who would come away smelling strongly of poorly combusted exhaust (I have a very understanding girlfriend).
So, I decided to go back to the stock jets yesterday, and took it out for a ride today.  The bike takes a little longer to warm up now, and is a little slower overall.  However, the slowness isn't as noticeable after it has warmed up well, and the exhaust is definitely a little quieter.  I rode about 60 miles tonight, so I filled it up when I got home, and came away with just over 50 MPG.  I routinely got around 44 MPG before. 

My take on having the correct jets in place is a little less power, quieter exhaust, better MPG and less smell.  Just an FYI.

Less is more.
On the 500's for the European market Honda managed to modify carb settings and have equal performance with #78 main jets in stead of #100. Mine at topspeed (over 180 km/h on the Dyno) still runs very rich. In practice I never got more than 170 km/h, but then... I measure 1,96 and weigh 90 kilo's.

That's about what I do on stock jets (350F), Camelman.  Where are your needles clips set?
