Hi there, I picked up a 1977 cb400f that has been sitting for about 12 years. I'm in the process of giving it a makeover as I have done to several vintage hondas and kawasakis lately. I want to change out the ugly ass turn signals and taillight but wonder how this might effect the value? any thoughts? thanks, johnny

Opinions here will vary for sure but mine is if the bike has not already been butchered, it's best to leave it as a stocker.  Having a half baked custom is not in my opinion the way to go but after all this is just my opinion... Changing the lights will devalue the bike for sure.

My 77 400f stocker turns heads and not once has anyone commented on my signal lights FWIW.

I see you are new to the forum so "welcome aboard"!

We all love pictures so please post some.

I have to agree on leaving it stock. Those ugly bits will soon start to look very attractive. Just wait for them to grow on you. Congrats on the purchase!

You could try and get a set of European style turn signals they are smaller than the US/Canadian ones. Hope this helps since you don't say where you are from.

If you're concerned about affecting the value, it's easy enough to change things like turn signals and tail lights without actually making any permanent modifications.  Just keep the stock parts and you can always put it back anytime you want.

thanks for the input fellas. I am working on this bike to sell it but I don't want to do anything that can't be reversed. I have had good success here in california by giving some classic bikes minor mods such as changing lights that look like they should be on a short bus!I think however on this one I will follow the consensus and leave them be. thanks again. johnny
