Cleaning out oil tank
« on: April 30, 2011, 07:01:24 pm »
Is there a preferred method or fluid or ??? To clean out a oil tank? I have a octagon oil tank going on my chopper and it was recently sand blasted and powder coated black. The inside looks clean but I'm sure there's plenty of sand blasting powder/residue inside of it. Any input would be great. Thanks

I use Poly Cleanse to liquefy all the old residue in the tank (Poly Cleanse will soften paint and can damage oil lines ). Then I rinse with varsol . When having such a part blasted its important to carefully plug everything to keep blast media out of the tank . I became obsessive with cleaning after blasting my cases . Bought lots of cool brushes for cleaning out oil passages . ;D
