someone posted this on FB. thought it was pretty funny.

Thanks for posting that, it says it all.  One side getting the job done and the other drowning in their own bile, bitterness, and triviality.

No surprise he had support. Hard to escape the gaze of the US without some. The proximity and that no one on the Pakistani side was told suggests more than just looking the other way though.

We all remember this for sure

Looking forward to our guys getting some actionable intelligence from whatever they carted away from the scene.

Until I know the REAL story of what REALLY happened at that compound it is hard to get angry.

But, I am sure none of us will never know the real, true story of what happened there and who was allegedly killed there or not.

Tough to get angry about a 'trust us on this one' scenario.

Would you believe it if we got you the long form death certificate. ;)

Remember the Private Jessica Lynch story? Made for good make believe at the time until we started slowly learning the truth.

Same with the Pat Tillman story until we learned the real truth.

What makes you think this story is any different?

Agreed. We've got the barest of details at this point. I'm not too skeptical that it was him though.

The truth about those two instances started to leak out just a few days afterward if anyone cared to notice, many didn't.

If your suspicions are valid it will come out soon.  Not some talk radio garbage or unsubstantiated crackpot websites but real hard evidence.  So many were involved that it can't be hidden.
I am going with what I have seen and read so far from many different sources.  Naysayers  have presented nothing other than wild speculation and vague suspicions as to what "really" happened.  Pretty thin gruel it seems.
Granted there will be a certain amount of misdirection in how they tracked him down to protect methods and sources.  Everything we are hearing now about the courier, the phone call,  to a plant in the Al Qeada organization, to a mole in ISI.  All, some, none of it may be true.

You need to come up with more than "what makes you think this story is any different".  I wouldn't hang my hat on that.

Yes, while those stories were inflated at the time for political reasons, both of them are still heroes  in my book.

Question: why would Navy Seal Team 6 be used for a land-based operation and not delta force?

Again...is that all you got...the basis of your suspicions?

Why did they do it on Sunday night and not Saturday (local time) like it was planned? The answer:  It was cloudy Saturday night and they wanted a clear night.  Sometimes the answer is as simple as that.

No, just a question I was wondering about, no suspicions or conspiracy theories liked to this one.

We may never know but maybe they are in involved in other operations in Libya, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan,..... .  We seem to be spread a bit thin these days.

I'm still waiting for the real story about this. From a military perspective, the operation was a cock-up. One Blackhawk crashed during the insertion, Osama (shot twice, even though unarmed) was apparently using a woman (also unarmed) as a human shield (she was shot too) and now the government don't have any tangible evidence that he's actually dead, except for a vague promise that they "might" release a pic of his body. (which could easily be photo-shopped)

If I was the president of the US, I'd want him captured so I could parade him in front of the camera's and try him in a US court, and execute him. All the American people have at the moment is a story with nothing to back it up. Sorry for my cynicism, but it doesn't add up. Cheers, Terry.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I feel like our government is telling us the truth and that he is dead, but they knew there would be question about if he was really dead so why not hold on to the body for proof instead of dumping it it the ocean so quick?

Terry

I thought that was a bit strange as well.

They say that he wasn't armed, he was asked in Arabic by one of the Seals if he'd surrender, his reply was negative, and he gets a lead tune up on the spot.

I would've thought that if he was immobilised (knee caps), he could've easily been thrown into the back of the chopper and transported back to the US where he didn't want to go to face the music - and a whole lot more.

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

I don't think we will ever get the real story.  Just the one that the administration wishes to proliferate.  And, I tend to agree with you on this topic.  What better way to prop up popularity than the get the US populace to "rally 'round the flag and "appreciate" an administration sorely in need of some good publicity.  Hollywood has shown the way to win the hearts and minds of "the people".  All you need is a credible, even wanted, "happening", for people eager to believe.
Isn't the timing just perfect for the election coming up next year?  Anyone have doubts we'll hear a lot more about it (except for the details) on the campaign trail?

The timing would have been "just perfect" had it happened shortly before the election when short-lived emotional reactions could have made a difference, not a year and a half before it, when there's more than enough time for the GOP and Fox "news" to pull or fabricate every possible negative thing they can from the story.

You're kidding, right?  ;D
Didn't Obama announce his intent to run in 2012 just last month?  Time to gather momentum.  He was out in CA just last month fundraising.  Do you seriously believe he won't be capitalizing on Bin Laden events in his speeches from now to election time?  (repetitively)  How long will it take for the sheeple to accept as fact?

Jeez, you yanks just can't do anything right, can you? It takes you almost 10 years to find the whereabouts of a bloke, which almost everyone knows, except you. And in the end you STILL bodge it!!
Meanwhile 2 countries get invaded at a huge expense in material and human life. The hatred between the 2 cultures has been exacerbated and magnified tenfold. To do what? What an Israeli hit-team would have taken a couple of years to carry out, quietly, forcefully and leave no doubts to anyone that it had been accomplished. The message after Munich was clear; you mess with us and we'll hit the people responsible hard and when they least expect it.
You guys? You have to go in there a whooping and a hollerin' and beating your drum for all to hear, and you still end up with egg on your faces.

I was watching Al Jazerra with an Egyptian I work with. He translated and a lot of the commentary was that Bin Laden was becoming less relevant to the youth considering the "Arab Spring" fueled by the young throughout the region. His brand of radicalism is not their agenda.

This smacks of an updated version of "The Producers"

Springtime for Hitler - The Producers(1968)

And to your comment about the files and computer records found, we've only just begun. Hopefully this will get the proper cooperation from the countries that have cells with planned activity.
