Ten Dollar Barrier
« on: April 16, 2006, 04:28:40 PM »
I broke the Ten Dollar Barrier yesterday for the first time ever with an $11.50 fill-up after riding to reserve.  :(

It's still a bargain.  ;D

This totally pisses me off as the 10.00 it cots to fill the 750 is what it used to cost to fill up the Mighty Maverick, and that was just 10 years ago.... Ok dam it I am getting old..... Just sucks I really liked it when gas was .99 a gallon. Made cross country road trips easy to do. With .99 gas and .99 Buger King and McDonalds combined with my then Honda Civic (50-55 miles to the gallon - dont how or why) it made for a killer road trip that could end just about anywhere. Now the same trip costs more than $600 round trip. >:(

Here in New Zealand it costs me $26.40 NZ or $16.38 US for 16 litres of 98 octane...the word is that
petrol is going up to $2 NZ or $1.25 per litre by Christmas....    :)

High-Test is $3 per here, and I use it becaase I live where there is heat and the higher octane might help prevent ping in traffic.

To be honest, I've never understood guys who #$%* about the price of high-test.  It's only a few cents more per gallon.  If you #$%* about that, you are one cheap sonofa#$%*.  What the EFFING EFF?  No price is too good for my baby.

You guys have it easy.  gas is about $7 a gallon here in the UK. The worst part is that about 77% of that is tax which is wasted by Tony Blair and his bunch of incompetents.

He has to get the money to pay for your pension some way, I don’t mind paying a bit more tax for a decent NHS and Benefits for people who need them and sorting out the mess Thatcher and the rest of  her bastards left this country in.  ;D

OK Last night on the Motorway (Interstate to you colonials) at the sevices (what a misnomer!!!) I saw that DIESEL was 100.9 pence per LITRE thats £4.544 per UK gallon or $8.18 per UK gall or about $6.13 per US gallon (assuming i worked the calculator right)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Liters, litres, Imperial gallons, US gallons, pounds of fuel, US dollars, U.K. pounds, I'm confused...no wonder airliners run out of gas. How the hell can I get from point A to point B on half a tank of fuel?  I nearly didn't...

Here in our part of Canada right now its $113.9CDN per litre and given a 3.78 litre US gallon, and today's conversion rate, that's $3.75 USD per USG. And yes ours too is about 73% taxes that are squandered by incompetents.

Last week Unleaded Petrol was £1.04 per litre here in Orkney (about 7.3 dollars a gallon). This week the price sign has been marked 'Fuel Fill Up' I'm scared to go in and look at the price on the pump. What I hate about the 77% tax is that we then have to pay 17.5% Value added Tax on the whole amount. Even our taxes are taxed.  :o

Me too, lucky enough to go crank off 100 miles today in the upper 60's temps we are now enjoying.

Liters are just a dirty way are just a dirty way of saying we will give you a tiny bit of gas for alot of money. Talk about stick shock, by habit alone I'll bet some U.S. residents get major sticker shock when they find out that price on the sign is for a Litre of gas and not a U.S. gallon. But when you think about, we pay more per gallon for softdrinks than gas.

Just think,
at least it doesn't cost like Genuine Vermont Maple Syrup ($42.00 gallon) last I checked.
THen it would cost what, almost $200 to fill up the cb550/cb750's?
But it sure would smell sweet going down the road.

Sounds like the guys running Bio-fuel around here, smells like McCain french fries. ;D  Then again, you get that smell when you drive by their head quarters too.

Filling my car tank (Audi A4) cost me more than 50 euros, that is, about 60 bucks. It runs on diesel and I can get about 600 miles of a tank.

I am so glad to live right next door to the hospital I work for. I can walk to work and save the $125 a week gas allowance my company pays me to finance my CB550 Four project. It cost me over $300 to drive from New Bern North Carolina to Bullhead City Arizona, but now the price has gone up and the trip home is going to be hell. Right now it is $2.65 a gallon and going up. I am just glad I don't have the 2 and 3 hour commutes I used to have. I would be working to fill the tank.

Stopped by the local dairy store today for milk and realized that it's official, gas costs more per gallon than milk! Maybe I should be driving a COWasaki.  >:( ;D
