Specs on a 71-73 cb500four
« on: August 11, 2005, 08:57:32 PM »
Hey Guys,
I just fixed my carbs and I wanted to know how close to new my bike is performing. Can anyone tell me the 0-60mph time and the gas mileage a new CB500 should get?
Thanks,
Jonathan

I get from 35 to 40 mp(US)g depending on my driving and load. You have to figure in more variables than just the carbs ie. timing , compression and valve adjustment.

Hi,
I have a Cycle Australia Road Test mag in my hand, circa 1973 which tested a cb500 at 0-100kph (62 mph) in 7.4 sec.
Also gas mileage at 51.1 mpg (Imperial). I used to get 50 mpg (imp) out of mine.

I haven't measured my 0-60 time, but i just logged 49.5 MPG (US gallon) on the highway. The only major change over stock my bike has is a 4 into 2 straight pipe exhaust.
