Bike is coming along nicely, hey slow works for me...takes me at least 2 years before I can say I have "finished" a bike.
What's the chances of getting it road legal when you are ready to ride it?

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Its a custom fibreglass one a guy in NZ on a bobber forum makes.

Thanks for the website. Can I ask what battery your using on the swingarm? Isnt that alot of rockin and rollin bouncing up and down on the swingarm? Can it take that much shock? I want to move mine in the same location because I Konged my frame and dont really have a good location to mount the battery so that will be perfect.

Battery thats there is a stock looking thing, its toast anyway, wont hold charge for long.  Im gona grab a gel style one so should be a lot better.  I figure if its strapped firmly so it cant bounce then it should be all good anyway
I havent ridden it much as is.  I need a welder, sux having to rely on or ask friends that dont live nearby to do things for me

That does look good.  Have you considered any engine modifications?  I am in a project with a cb500 as well and I am not sure about the modifications I want to make (cam swap to a 650 cam and a 555 bore).  Did you have a thought process on making a decision to mod or not mod the engine? I just joined this forum.  This is my cherry post so be gentle.

Been a while so thought id update. Camera batteries were flat tho and my cell doesnt like the dark garage. Will get better pics soon.
Anyway mate of mine welded up some exhaust tube for me to hold my electrics.  Cut it in half with a hole in the centre for the wires to feed.  The back is hinged and 2 bolts welded to the top hold it to a bracket between the frame.

Also made up a seat pan as the solo seat didnt look right between the wide frame.  Capped off the rear of the frame that was also cut off.

Got bored and pulled out a rattle can and did the fenders last night.  Gloss was all i had instead of the satin it will end up being.

I cant stand the stock gauges but need to save up some cash to get a Vapor.

Put the guages on Trade-me, you'll probably get enough for new ones and some decent paint. :D

Been spending FAR too long doing the wiring on this.  Sheathed the looms in this weave thats used on computer cabling. all nice and tidy and easily removed and hidden.


LED warning lights in the headlight bucket and switch for the headlight on.  CBR250 Brake master and new brake hose


Vapor mounted and running


Ignition moved into the cover plate of the starter motor. Starter has been removed


Military style plug that allows removal of the electrics tube. has ignition and altenator wiring

Main look plug, i'll replace this with military style one if i can find another


Made a new axle mounted plate mount, needs rounding but was a piece of scrap i had.


Electrics tube. kill toggle switch on the side


Tailight has 3 leds underneath for plate lighting

hey that turned out pretty nice. real similar to the 79 CB650 I built. (sorry no pics, camera didn't work and sold the bike) Great build, bobbed is the only way to go!

Pretty sure its just a chinese copy headlight.  Came on the bike.  Thinkn about taking to it with a scotchbrite. not down with chrome.
Vapor seems pretty sweet so far. i havent done much riding yet tho, its barely running on 2-3 cyl hence me ordering a new points.condensor baseplate setup. spark on the points for 2-3 is poor

Small update
Friend of mine made me up some Z bars and i got a vintage 6" headlamp for next to nothing off trademe.  Currently have no front indicators, will sort that at some stage.
