Where To Get Needle Jets
« on: May 02, 2005, 04:13:36 PM »
I'm restoring a 1975 CB750K5 and would really like to replace the needle jets because I've heard they make a huge preformance improvement. The problem is I can't find them anywhere. If anyone knows where to buy some or if anyone has some laying around I'd be willing to buy them. I really want to get this bike running soon.
Thanks

It looks like you need part number 16012-300-014, needle jet set. It includes a new needle, needle jet and e-clip. Runs around $15.00. They are available from Service Honda. This is one item I won't buy aftermarket, since it seems no one has found a carb kit with the same type of needle.

Thanks for the quick responses.
So even though the part 16012-300-014 isn't the stock 1975 part will they still work well?
Thanks

I can't speak for the '75 model, but for my '73 it was a spot-on match. The KeiHin number on the needle was exactly the same (these are all KeiHin parts in Honda packaging). According to the carb spec charts, the carbs from '69-'76 models are all inclusive (same internals), so I'm pretty sure these would be considered the stock replacements (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) and you should be fine. If you get the kits and want to be absolutely sure, compare the numbers from the needles out of your bike (if you're sure they are the stock ones) with those on the needles in the kit before you open them. This way, if they don't match, you can return them. Each kit services one carb, so you'll obviously need 4 sets. It's a bit of a bite in the wallet, but it will save you plenty of headaches in the long run...

As an added note, that part number does in fact cover the k-5. They cured a carbon foulingĀ  problem of the plugs and eliminated a "hesitation" condition during light on/off accelleration when in traffic after I replaced them on my k5. IF worn, they can cause an over rich condition. They really smoothed things out on my bike.

Well, thanks for all the great responses. I'm extremely happy I won't be needing to use those old needle jets anymore.
Thanks
