Anybody use Progressive Insurance?
« on: May 08, 2011, 06:47:53 AM »
My insurance co, USAA, is no longer accepting new applications for M/C insurance in MA. They'll grandfather the bikes I have on already, but are referring me to Progressive. Anybody had any dealings with these folks?

Thanks for any info!

I have Progressive.  No complaints, but I've never made a claim.

I use them for my boat, great rates and easy to deal with.
For my bikes and cars, I use Liberty Mutual, very inexpensive.

Just like Cycleranger said.  I have them for 4 motorcycles.  No complaints and no claims.   My deductible goes down every year I'm with them and by next year, I'll have a $0.00 deductible requirement.  Prices are competitie also.   Liability only on my old Hondas.....$75.00 for the year on each.

I always get nervous when insurance companies like Geico and Progressive have so much extra money to spend on advertisements day and night. That's bajillions worth of ads for both production and running them -- surely my premiums are too high if they can siphon all that money into ads. That said, their rates set the standard for the competition so they must be doing something right. I have Progressive on my bikes and car.

I only pay $25 for liability for my 550F w/Liberty Mutual.

I have Liberty Mutual for the home and auto, but here in NY they are way too high for the bike.

I have been using Progressive for the bike but it is only liability and it is still fairly high. Never had a claim with them. Allstate had a decent rate also.

I use Progressive via USAA. I think I pay $25 a month to insure my bike for something far over than it's worth. lol

Thanks everyone. I don't know how I'll go, but I've not had a bike claim ever in 41 years. I think I will check out Liberty Mutual as well, I also wonder about the advertising budget situation, although I don't see Progressive advertised here in the Northeast nearly as much as Geico, which got fairly poor reviews when I looked.

Are you kidding -- that ugly annoying lady is on tv all the time in the progressive ads. But they're not on the radio as much as Geico.

Now that you mention it, I realized I don't watch TV, maybe that's why... ;D

I had progressive on my old Yamaha R6 and I still have it on my CB550.

My R6 was stolen in college and they wrote me a check, just happened to be a bit more than I paid for it also!

No complaints here.

I've been with Progressive for a buncha yrs (10+?), the only downside is I can't have my bikes and cages on the same policy, $135/yr for either bike, one bike claim 2 yrs ago, my buddy pulled in front of me trying to avoid a deer, I hit him, we both went down. Paid him his own estimate for repairs to his bike, and his gf's medical treatment (he was unscathed), a burn on her leg and an ambulance ride with me due to my seperated shoulder, and $1000 towards my medical expenses. Plus, they are one of the few companies that I can call up and switch vehicles on the policy at moments notice. Just doesn't make sense to me to pay for multiple vehicles when I can only drive/ride one at a time. If I want to ride the Yammie, I call him up and put it on, if I want to ride the Honda next week, I call and swap them, sometimes 4 or 5 times a month. Same with my Bronco2/Ranger/Mustang, one at a time, switch 'em whenever I want.

Progressive through USAA.    $150 for the entire year with an agreed replacement (if the CB was ever stolen) of $5000

Price seems good to me.   Actually was able to talk with a knowledgeable representative on the phone.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

With all my vehicles, I would save about $1700 a year if I went with progressive over my current State Farm policies!  I want to be SICK!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
