Rear cover rubber guide?

I've got a new rear cover from Honda, but it mentions a "rubber guide" that must go on one of the posts on that guard. It says it's not available. Anybody know about this piece? Could you slip some rubber hose or something over it? I assume its just in case the chain hits that post.

Yes, as long as it wasn't too thick I would think you could.
