Did you know that Harley Davidson motorcycles was founded by two guys named William Harley and Arthur Davidson?  But poor Arthur is left out when people abbreviate the name Harley Davidson and just refer to them as Harleys.  From now on, when I talk to a Harley guy I'm going to refer to his bike as a Davidson.  "Hey big fella, that's a nice Davidson you got there."

follow the protocol of naming them Harley?

Obviously it would be too difficult for a child to go through life with a first name of
Davidson.
