« on: May 11, 2011, 01:47:28 PM »
can i just stick any tip on my 550 since i have 4-1 headers? whats the big deal with tips? i have a yard that has period collect supertrapp, kerker, mac exhaust tips but i dont know what bike they are actually for. if it fits and looks good on the bike and i can fabricate a bracket its fine right? or is there some kind of super magical thing going on thats why they make bike model specific exhaust?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'tip'. Most SOHC exhaust systems don't have a removable tip.

Do you mean muffler?

OK, that's what I thought. In that case, if it fits on the collector tube then you should be able to use it.

I just gave Dave500 an old Tranzac muffler of a 750, he put it on his 550 headers and loves it....Anything is possible, you may have to rejet depending on how much less restrictive the new muffler is....
