How much fork oil for '84 GPZ 750?
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:18:51 PM »
I will probably have much better luck here than on the Kwacker forum as they don't change their fork oil.

So, how many ounces or milliliters of oil to fill a cleaned and rebuilt fork on these?

TIA,

Eric

Thanks for that reply but it refers to the larger 1100 forks.
That is the site that I found a reference to the GPZ forks that said either 250 or 270ml.
I am just trying to get an accurate number for these. (they are going on one of my Suzuki projects.)

Yes it does, but reply #4 confirms they share the volumes. That's why I sent it.

Hmmm. From that very forum, I have seen 250 or 270ml's posted as the correct amount.
Thanks for trying.
Perhaps I will just fill one up to the air cross over hole, measure the depth down AND pour the fluid amount into a beaker and see if it comes close to any of those figures.
The crap that came out resembled old gear oil, water and fork oil. YUCK!

Nothing like fresh, clean forks & hydraulic fluid to keep'em working well over those hard bumps and road irregularities  :)
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'

A gentleman on one of the Kwacker forums replied and concurs with a 318cc fluid amount. I will just go with 320cc's and call it good.
Thanks for the help!

I am busy rebuilding the anti-dive currently on these. And the tubes are busy soaking in solvent.

A general way of correct amount of oil is to measure the level. No springs or caps, fork completely collapsed, min 140mm from upper side of fork tube to oil level. This is described for progressive fork springs. I used a syringe with hose that measured 140mm from bottom. Fill forks with oil and suck with syringe. Exact 140mm guaranteed!

They are already back together and ready to go...

This is the pile as I bought a couple of weeks ago...

Hoping to have it on the road by the end of the month if I can find the good wiring harness that I have around here somewhere.
