OK, didn't realize that they already had an internal, learn something new on here every day. 8)

If the GNRS is going to be the alloy bike's coming out party, may have to see if I can get back down for the occasion.

That's the goal. I'm going to try and make it to pomona and the autorama in sacramento the next weekend.
Maybe I should enter big blue, what category do you think that would go in? Lol

little teaser from the paint guy today. What do you think about the pin stripes Tintop or anybody else, if anybody else is following along. Its not what i was thinking but it looks ok. I pick them up tomorrow. Ill set them on the bike for a minute to make sure things all work and then its off to the upholstery guy.

Nice! I really like that style reminds me of the SS stripes on the 60's-70's Chevy muscle cars. I may have to steal this idea for my bike. ;)

That seat come out great ffj.  Your rework of the contours really suits the bike. 8)

As for the stripe, maybe a silver pin stripe would have also worked, but your painter did a very nice job.  I'd leave it alone at this point.

I went with the white because it matched the honda wing on the side. It will look a lot better when i get the pipe wrapped. I dropped it off at the upholstery shop. its going to cost a little more then i wanted but its going to look top notch. The place i took it to always has custom hot rods they are upholstering in the back. Also, not sure if you can tell in the picture but I have started to replace the old blots with new stainless ones.

Back from the upholstery guy but im stuck at work so no progress till sunday. On the list, front fender and headlight, plug in  the wiring, put on the foot pegs. Then i need to wrap the exhaust. Monday i think im going to take it to the transmition shop and have the cables shortened. I may be looking for a ne front wheel. I think the hub on this one is shoot.

Then i need to wrap the exhaust.

Well, I'm sorry, but that's like Michelangelo looking up at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and saying - ahhh, just give it a lick of paint and it'll be good...

All that outstanding work, bodywork, seat, clip-ons, engine cosmetics, then to just wrap the exhaust.  Seems like you're giving up just as the finish line is in sight!

Have a pipe custom bent, have the existing one powdercoated or Jet-Hot coated, even just rattle-can the whole thing high-heat BBQ black, but DON'T just go for the burlap header look!

*off soapbox*

:D

Sure is a great-looking machine!!

I hear you. If its any consolation the header wrap is black. I dont care for header wrap, but i hate header wrap and any color then black. i always looks like a broken arm or like your dragging a mummies leg under your bike. My problem is this pipe is shoot. there is no saving the rusty area. I need to get the back on the raod and the black wrap is the quickest solution that will look presentable. I do have plans on building a new pipe. basically the same thing but made from stainless. But wait and see what it looks like with the wrap, i think it will look pretty good.

I really appreciate the input, I like to hear what other people REALLY think, not just telling every body that there latest mod to their bike looks great. Because some of the stuff people do to their bikes looks like #$%*. And a tan wrapped header is one of them.

Well I'm not to keen on the white header wrap in the last photo, but the multiple exhaust tips is interesting. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Saw one of these today ffj, not nearly as nicely done as yours. :)  Oh, and yes it had header wrap, beige ::), black would have worked better, and a trick 1/2 scale 'slip on'.  Got to remember to take the camera.

Headers wrapped, chain and chain guard on. Need to put fluid in the forks and finish the left handle bar and its basically done. I need to replace the front wheel, the drum was rusty and pitted so the brake is really spongy and doesn't work well.
Im pretty happy with the look of the black wrap.

I think that would rip itself right out of the frame.

Next week im going to strip all the cable off and send them to motion pro to have some shorter ones made up.

I love these small bikes. I had a 71 Trail 90 for a while, but at the time I wasn't looking for a project and the previous owner had run it into the ground using it as a dirtbike. It needed a complete rebuild, but I rode it rat as hell and it just stopped working one day. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of it and just turned it into a tiny little cafe racer.  :-[

Love the bike, though!
