I'm looking to stretch my tank just a bit - maybe 2 - 3"   I was hoping that I could just add some foam to the back of the tank and then blend
it into the existing tank with fiberglass cloth etc.    I know it would be more ideal to stretch it with metal, but I don't have a tig or anyone local that I'd
know could do it.

Any problems that you could think of ?    As of now, I'm thinking I'll strip the existing paint off the tank and give a good once over with some pretty strong paper - 40 or 60 grit.   Then, I'd apply some expanding foam and get it to the shape I like.   Then, slather that up several coats of fiberglass and resin.

I'm hoping that I can use the existing rubber mount for the back.    It might be a bit of a pain to get the rubber mount on the tank, but I think it will work.
I'll be using a modified seat pan so I can use the existing hinges.

Any recommendations or advice is very much appreciated.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Here is no reason you couldn't do that as long as you don't mess with the integrity of the origional tank. Done carefully you shouldn't be able to tell the difference beteen the glass and the origional tank.
