I like the way of the lines myself, with the way it slopes down toward the front and side. The knee dents are nice too.

I am looking for a nice clean looking on my exhaust, and black. I like the looking of matte black pipes or wraps pipes. I have heard positive and negative things on both, however, I could use some more feedback.

What are the costs?
How long will each last?
Where can you get ceramic coating (in Canada)?

Does anyone have a good source for Clubman bars in Canada ( preferably Ontario ) ?

I cannot find anything that is not US based, and then you get hit with $30 shipping and $30 customs, taxes, and end up paying $100 for bars listed at $22.99 !!!!

I Looked, only US companies. Searched about 8 different times, only US. If worst comes to worse, I will get them, but I would rather not pay the extra $60 is miscellaneous charges.

My uncle works at Chrysler, so I am going to get him to do the paint on the tank. I was thinking of black or a deep grey. Go with Black / grey / Red theme.

tank is about 23", approx. I tore apart the stock seat, I have no intention of using it. I plan on trying to build my own from Fibreglass......... seems workable if you have the patience and do your homework. I just do not want it to cost more than simply buying one.

i was looking at a CB900 tank for a min that had similar lines... but it was way too long. would have dwarfed the ol' 550

did you decide what to do with the exhaust yet?

Almost one year later and I have some news to post!!!!

There have been a number of issues from job loss, garage fire, bullet wounds ( to the carbs ), and just plain lack of knowledge. However, with a new job and a fresh M1 in my wallet, I am back on the horse again. I also have some help from a couple members who have been amazing. Currently, I am trying to get a set of carbs because I have a damaged carb body (bullet) and it cannot be repaired. That is need number one. The second part I am working on is the wiring. Here are some photos of various fixes.

As far as the carbs go, I am about to buy some 77 CB550K carbs for $60. If anyone has a better solution, please let me know.

haha, I did not shoot it. I have a very small, perfectly round dent in the carb body. the other parts around are undamaged. it was either a solid steal chopstick, or a bullet, lol.

hey,

while I wait for some carbs, still looking, I want to replace my controls. I hear this can be a real pain. has anyone done this before on a CB550F ? would something like this work?

haha, yes they do.

I am just looking to replace the levers, not the controls. I want something a but more modern and preferably black. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

the controls a34 years old and I found the wires and thin metal parts very brittle

I already have new controls, and know that they are simple enough to replace. so hopefully that will not be an issue.

I have heard that the levers are a pain to replace and you need to by certain ones, etc......

I just want to get a nice pair of modern black levers. i do not mind if I have to replace the cables or the master cylinder or whatever else....

Hi,

I have a CB550F and I am running stock rims and I need to know what size tires to get. I have no interest in speed or high performance. Just a durable tire for most road surfaces.

Stock (I need the conversion though):
F - 3.25 / 19
R - 3.75 / 18

One person advised me to get:
rear 120/90X18
front 100/90X19

Another advised:
rear 110/90/18
front 90/90/19

any help would be great. links are appreciated too.

I have completely stripped the black electrical tape covering from my wiring harness. now......i need to replace it. lol.

What are my options? Any links or images from your work or products?

or.....

where can i buy a new or lightly used complete wiring harness?

For the tires, both of those sets of sizes will work, though it's debatable which is better. The second set is the stock size.

Wiring harness, best bet is ebay, but make sure you look at a lot of pics, especially up close of the connectors.
