Best inexpensive compression tester? OTC?
« on: May 16, 2011, 07:41:00 PM »
Hi all. Was just wondering what compression testers you folks would recommend. I've only got about $60-$75.00 to spend on one, and don't know what brand is the best...Please don't say 'buy a Snap-On, MAC, MATCO, etc' I don't have three hundred dollars to spend on just one tool. There has got to be a reasonably priced tester/kit out there. Has anybody used the OTC motorcycle specific tester kit? I can get one off Amazon for around what's in my budget, but OTC is a brand I've never heard of before? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

OTC has been around longer than dirt and makes decent stuff.

I got the Snap-On set at a flea market for like $25

Works like a charm and has all the sizes you need. I've used it on my CB550K, My 1997 F150 4.6L truck, my Mercruiser 470 3.7L. I even used it on my Ryobi weedwacker.

I spent around $60 for mine at Sears.  I haven't used it yet but it seems like a very nice quality and it will do many different sizes.
