What woodwork have you all been doing?
« on: May 18, 2011, 06:39:40 AM »
This isn't really a new thing I did, but I thought I'd share it with you all. I made a dart box out of skateboards. Yes, they were all brand new blank decks, but I used to get them for free. They were all 7.5 width though. I gave away all I could, but found something useful to do with some others. These pics are after it's been set up outside on my deck for 2 years, and after it fell due to poor mounting. I just put a new dart board in it and mounted it proper. After fixing it from the fall, of course. Anyway, here are the pics. (it's a little dirty)

I did a dartboard project as well.  I'll get a pic tomorrow and post it.

I hope this doesn't turn into a dart board thread.  I do build other things.  My son came home from the local pub with this board.  They were replacing theirs.  I thought the front porch would be a good spot for it, but the brick wall posed a challenge for keeping the darts sharp in case of a miss.  So I took a couple of pieces of scrap plywood and put together a back board and hung it around the mailbox.  A quick glance, and you hardly notice the back board.

Nice camoflage.
My son came home from the local pub with this board.  They were replacing theirs.

Bonus to you of the scourge of pay to play electronic darts. They suck.   Nice score, son.

As for woodworking I found a deal on some boards, all treated, except for the engineered plastic. 12 nd 16 footers.

City wants me to do something instead of pile them in the yard..

I made a zebrawood handle for my Stanley. The front knob I made out of a soft silicone and also did some engine turning on the sides. When you work with wood the tools must look cool right?

In a 115 year old house I always have wood working projects! The latest is tying to match door casings, rosettes and 12 inch base molding. Before that, it was putting up crown molding and stripping paint and refinishing. I enjoy it, but it seems I never have time for my bike,

Frank, how did you do that front knob?  I have a couple that I'd do that to in a heartbeat.  It seems like it would be real comfy on the hands.

Finished building a second bathroom and am now working on a kitchen remodel.  So lately it has just been hacking up a bunch of 2x4s.  Not  very satisfying artistically. ;D

Another recycling project... Worked some glue into the loose joints, stripped old paint, filled <most> of the scrapes, divots, etc.

Cut stencils and applied new paint. Some assembly still required.

As long as the work looks cooler, yes.  ;) ;D ;D
