Finally an Introduction
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:58:46 PM »
My name is Miles. I've posted a few times, but mostly I've just been lurking trying to absorb information.

As for the bike. It is a 1977 Cb550F.  I bought it from a member on here in October 2010 for $650 in non-running condition. The first thing I did was take the carbs apart and clean them. I took a toothbrush to the bowls and boiled the jets and small parts in a lemon juice solution. After that I put everything back together with new plugs and a new fuel filter. Unsurprisingly the bike was not ready to ride yet.

The previous owner mentioned the bike had a dyna S ignition system that had not been properly timed yet. So I borrowed a timing light and set the timing. On top of everything, the wiring harness had been hacked up at some point and was in questionable condition. I got the main harness sorted out and moved on to properly connecting the running, brake and tail lights.

After getting a title issue sorted out somewhere in the middle, and getting a flat tire the day after I got it running, here it is.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
