My last ticket was in my E320 and I had my motorcycle frame in the back seat on the way to get some welding done in the sticks here in NC.   I got stopped and the officer practically yelled at me " I clocked you at 88mph. What are you trying to do going that fast out here."  To which I replied.  " Well I was trying to go back to the future but I think there is something wrong with this flux capacitor." and pointed at the bike frame.  Bastard didn't even laugh.

That one is still pending and in this county the only way to get it reduced over 80 is to do 1 hour of community service for every mile over.

have any of you actually gone to court to try and contest a speeding ticket?

It's not so much contest as negotiate.  I have had 14 speeding tickets since I gt my license 12 years ago.  Most I have gotten lawyers for and they have been dismissed.  A few I have just gone to court the day before in the early morning 7:30 or so and asked to talk to a ADA.  Usually they say something like go to driven school, I'll reduce it to X, or sorry I can't help you.  If its B or C I got a lawyer.

i dont think they'll go for that, i was doing 93 in a 55, it was pretty obvious that it was me doing the speeding.
i was thinking more along the lines of claiming that a truck was about to merge into my lane right on top of me so i had to gun it to get the hell out of there, self preservation

I received a ticket for doing 48 in a 30 on my 350.  I went to court and plead to a defective equipment charge because the light bulbs in the speedometer were out.  Showed them the bulbs I bought to put in.  Reduced the fine from around $70 to $40 and no points.   I was lucky.

I don't think they are going to go for that bud.  What does your driving record look like?  That's 38 over dude.  I think your going to end up needing a lawyer on this but I still say your best bet short of laying out the cash for some representation is just talking to the DA.

Got dinged by the RCMP doing 55Km in a 30Km School Zone. Speeding fines in a school zone in New Brunswick are doubled so the fine was near $600.00.

Went to court because the school zone sign read "30Km when children are present" Went back to the same spot, at the same time every day for a week and took photos in both directions showing there are never children present at that time of day. (7:30AM, school doesn't start till 8:25AM). There were two other guys that got ticketed right before and after me that came to court too.

Brought my envelope of photos all ready to fight. Turns out the officer misspelled my last name when he wrote the ticket.

Judge basically told me that if it was not my name on the ticket, I had no business in her courtroom and to have a good day!!!

Handed my photos to one of the other guys fighting his ticket and left before she changed her mind!!

All the other tickets issued that week were dismissed and since then the signs have been changed to read specific hours for the 30Km speed limit.

What can I say, I got lucky.

None on a bike yet, Knock On Wood. Had a few on 4 wheels over the years. I don't usually get much over, while on the CBX, but I HAVE been up to about 110MPH on the GPZ, on a road that seems to ASK for speed!  ::) The GPZ has 160 on the speedo and even though I don't INTEND to see if it will do it, I DO have a tendency to "Push it" a bit.  ;) Most it has cost me, on 4 wheels, was almost $200 and the thing is, it was really unintentional (that I was speeding), as my Daughter and I were out on open road going to a Doctor's appointment (her's), joking and carrying on and wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going.  ::)

I've never been stopped on a motorcycle.  I know, it surprises me too, but it's true.

Yeah, me too.  32 years and never been pulled over on the bike. :)

I think we call that "never been caught" ;)

120mph in a 45 zone, back in 2003 on my '95 CB1000 (I loved that bike!). Fourth of July, early in the morning, no traffic. Took off out of convenience store parking lot, I didn't realize it, but there was a cop sitting behind the store. Well I leave the parking lot, street to my left with stop sign, I am leaving the parking lot entrance/exit, I roll on the throttle and start getting down a beautiful causeway, very twisty, very smooth, very rural, not a care in the world. I start catching up to two Harley's and back off the throttle, ride behind them for about a mile, when all of a sudden I hear the siren right behind me, and look in the mirror and see the cop. He pulls up along side me and forces me off the road. I stop, he stops, he gets out gun drawn telling me to get on the ground. I of course comply as I see that he his shaking like a dog #$%*tin peach seeds with his finger on the trigger. I get cuffed and put in the back of the car. Long story short,,,,,he tells me I'm being charged with disregarding stop sign, reckless/speeding 120/45, and eluding. I had to explain that I had no idea he was behind me and that I wasn't eluding him, and didn't understand how I can disregard stop sign when I wasn't on the road but instead in the parking lot. I ended up calling in a favor of a cop freind of mine, who was owed by the District Attorney in the area that ended up dropping the charges.

Moral of the story,,,,if your going to speed, have plenty of freinds who can help you out.
