Engine part question...
« on: April 19, 2006, 07:25:55 PM »
I am in the process of reassembling my engine.  The parts manual shows a part with the
Honda number 12670-286-000 sort of by itself on the page that depicts the cylinder assembly.
It also shows up on the head assembly and is labeled .....  "insert, rubber"..  What the heck
is this?  In my parts book it has a find number of "3" and is on page 11 and 12.  ???

Could this be those little spacer jobbies that fit between the fins?  If so what is the purpose
of these?  I note the number used changes between various models.

Putting stuff back together is so much fun.  ::)

Can't vouch for the part number, but if it is the little rubber disks between the fins, they are intended to dampen cooling fin vibrations.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Thanks Bob....I knew the experts would come thru... :)

They obviously couldn't decide on the number because it changed three times
in the early manual I have.  ::)
