New Guy
« on: May 19, 2011, 04:11:49 PM »
Hi to everyone. I have been rebuilding bike for years (Crotch Rockets) and three years ago I decided that I was old for sports bike and got me a Electra Glide Classic Harley Davidson. Through the past three years I have learned that American Made bike parts are really expensive. I decide to give a shot to different bikes and I have rebuild a series of bikes, but I had never rebuild nothing under 1990s. One of my friends told me a story about his Brother-in-law wrecking his bike back in 1990 and he still had the bike. He try to put it together but with no luck. I met him and I made an offer. He surprise me and gave me the bike (FREE). 1974 Honda CB750 K Four. As of right now, this puppy engine still has compression. The carbs are shut completely and cosmetic wise is bad. The good news is that the frame and the engine does not show any signs of damage. I will dedicate at least the next year or so to bring it up. I was told that it is impossible because Honda doesn't make the parts anymore, but I still going to give it a shot. I'm open for criticism and ideas, so be free to comment in any of my post. Thank you and I will enjoy this blog...

Welcome.
Whoever told you it was impossible is less than knowledgeble. The CB750 is one of the easiest to rebuild hence its huge popularity a ongst rebuilders. And you can choose several themes to personalize the project. Strict reproduction, cafe, chopper, bobber, or mild custom.  A few parts have become unavailable from Honda, and for those you get the fun of chasing down some good used ones on ebay or such, or finding sources for reproduction or custom parts.  Everything is out there.

I mean you want some challenge to the project without it being actualy an impossibility. This forum is the hub for all your activities.

That's what I keep telling people. I just can wait till I'm done. I want to restore it close as original as possible, but I know I will do a mix of Mild Custom and Cafe... Lets see, I have to start that engine first. I guess I will be reading a lot in order to get ideas... Thanks for the reply. If you have any ideas hit me up...

A free bike is a great thing!   :D

Keep it original in that any changes you make are reversible and it will always be worth more. ;)
