Well, almost done anyway. Still have some jetting issues to work out due to the Kerker, but it runs like a champ  :D

Wish I could show some of the "before" pics. This thing sat out for several years (10-12) and was in really bad shape.

Check it out and give me your thoughts. I can take the abuse!!!!

Not too keen on the seat, but I like the black painted barrels with the polished fin edges.  It's a nice touch.  Good work! ;D

Hi Lee, I'm with Gordon, like the bike but not the seat.

Saying that it's your bike and your ride, have fun on it.

Looks great.  But, it looks like you have the exhaust mounting strap mounted to the upper shock bolt?  Maybe I'm seeing things.  Wouldnt that be bad because of travel.

Nice job Lee, well done. The seat is a little "knocked up" but as long as you like it. Now go get it dirty!

The seat does look weird but since the bike is not totally stock, what ever makes you comfortable. If you get an original exhaust, then go for the stock seat cover! Nice bike nevertheless.

What's all that shiney stuff on the bike?

What's the deal with the headers- did you paint them or get them that way?

 8) Gotta love those bench mounted buffing wheels.  8)

Painted the Kerker with High Temp - Dupicolor (1200 deg). They were chromed before, but the chrome was shot. I've always liked the black exhaust look, kind of "Mad Max" era.

I've just gotten used to seeing that seat on the bike, it's been on there for 18+ years and I like the way it looks. Besides if SHE's happy, I'M happy, know what I mean??  ;D

Actually, the OEM 400F seat looks crap to me, so I reckon that one's an improvement! Your bike looks good mate, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Whassa Phillistine mate? Anyway, the flat, featureless 400F seat is particularly fugly with those weird studs and the way the rear of the seat hangs out in mid-air over the fender, typical Japanese design "art" of the era, that only a monomaniacal 400F owner could love, uuuurrrggghhhh! That's why I like what Lee's done, he's not only made that seat more practical, he's also made it more attractive too! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Flat and featureless describes ANY factory set of that era!!  :D

The upswept rear of the seat give it he "Daytona Racer" look, a motorcycling magazine said so.  ;D  Plus, those seat studs give the right touch of "bling" to make the ladies go "Ooohh, aaahhh".  Shine 'em up and it's dazzling.  :o

I admit to being a full-on 400F Cult member.  Except there is no weird punch in this Cult.  ;D ;D

The 400F is the epitome of perfection.  EXCEPT FOR THAT DAMN CAMCHAIN TENSIONER!!!!!  :D

...Tasty 400 Lee.......good work getting her back on the road. As far as the seat goes, it's not so bad.  ;) Since you have built kind of a Special, a cafe seat would look cool too, IMHO. Or, find a stocker...since a seat takes about 2 mns to swap out, you could change your 'look' at will.

I like what you've done.

Did the engine look bad before? is that why you decided to paint it up?

Personally I like the seat. Thinking of storing my standard seat and getting a solo, so when/if I sell my cb550 I will still have a nice seat.
