anyone know of anywhere i can get a repair kit to repair my K2 frame as the two rails directly above cylinder head have been removed.
Some one mentioned a "Gordon kit" but i believe these are now out of production unless some one has one lurking about
Cheers

I saw a bike come through a buddies shop that was modified that way, what a shame, it had an 810 kit in it so it must have been somebodies idea of a drag bike at one time.

You might check with Gordon: at last count he was still making them, to order. Nice kits, if you want a disassemble-able frame. You can also just have a welder shop install new pipes: make sure they install small inner pipes on each end of the new one to hold alignment, and not just butt-weld a new section in. If you weren't so far away, I could probably cut some sections out of the wreck and hacked K0 top frame I have and send them to you. Someone cut it off at the downtubes and removed the cradle and tail: it's now just the seat mount and steering head.

I just repaired a customers bike that had this done. I used 1 inch pipe (od) and made sleeves out of pipe that was 1 inch (id). Slid the sleeves over the cut to fit 1 inch pipe, put the pipe in place and slid the sleeves over the remaining part of the frame pipe. I slid the sleeves on the frame as far as I could to get the best support. I then drilled a small hole through each connection and fit with a bolt so the sleeves would stay put. The bike went from "boing, boinging" down the road to a nice solid feel again. We will be adding back in the triangle support in a while. To do so, I will simply weld the pieces in and cut to make the frame part removable. The cut area is simply spanned with a piece of flat bar bolted into place.

A proper, and invisible, repair is to "slug" the inside of the new pipe section at each end, slot the new section to be able to move the slug when installed, and welding everything tight. Grind smooth, fill and paint, and no one is ever the wiser.
