Topic: Grass trimmer...which one is the best???

Someone gave me an old electric Ryobi trimmer. I didn't expect much from it but found that it would clean up what the mower can't get to. Had plenty of gas trimmers before - always had to fuss with something to make it go... All the weeds here are within 100' of an outlet anyway.

  I visit my dealer Stihl today and i was a little bit dissapointed because  stihl don't make any 4 stroke trimmer.

I don't want another 2 stroke trimmer,i already have one and i'm tired of the smoke,noise and gas/oil  mixing.

I think Honda is the only one that makes a 4 stroke, Stihl had one a couple of years ago they called a 4 mix it was still technically a 2 stroke but was a lot quieter and created nearly no smoke

Have you looked into Robin?  I bought their smallest trimmer 5 or 6 years ago for use around the house and it has been super reliable.  Robin makes a couple of 4 strokes.  The company is part of the Makita group as is Dolmar.

For bigger stuff, I have a Husqvarna 245RX clearing saw that has been running reliably for about 13 years.

Have a Husq with a Honda 4 stroke.   It's grrrreat, and not nearly as loud as a 2 stroke.

Most of the Craftsman trimmers that are comming into the shop have been made by American Yard Products Div. of Electrolux which makes Poulan, Husqvarna, Weedeater, etc. There is a new model that is made in China.

If it is made by MTD I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy, let alone buy it for myself, they are the second worst brand of garden equipment I have come across, with the worst being Murray.  If the honda is in good nick 225 sounds like a reasonable deal
