Throwing my hat in on the Michigan group!  Would love to join in on any rides in the GR/Lansing/Jax/Hillsdale and to the West.  The Gilmore Vintage Ride and Show will be in early June this year.  I'm definitly doing that!

I have a question specific to Michigan.  Anyone ever try to title a bike with a lost, non-Michigan title?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Hey guys just moved to Michigan last month and I'm down with meeting some other SOHC4 people.

Live in Ann Arbor, dunno if any of you guys saw that 79 CB650 on craigslist last month for $500 but I snagged it.  Runs great, needed a clutch, fork seals and mufflers, other than that its golden. Fun bike to wrench on.

Anyway, hope to meet some cool people on here.

Currently living in Marquette!  Grew up near Lansing so I'm down there sometimes in the summer time.

Any other Yoopers on here?

Nice city, Marquette. My wife and I spend a couple of days there each summer on the way to-from Lake Gogebic.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Hey fellow Michiganders!

I'm kinda sorta coordinating the Michigan portion of the SOHC4 Relay Across the US, Canada and Beyond!  You can read all about it in the Tech forum (yea, a relay is technical, kinda).  The idea is to relay a gnome (or maybe a Godzilla, our bikes are Japanese after all!) from state to state and province to province in an unbroken chain of SOHC4's.  Then, once the US and Canada are done, "it" will be taken to Europe and/or Oz and/or Kiwi and/or South Africa to continue the run!  Sponsorship and media coverage is being sought.

As mentioned above, I'm guna (try to) coordinate the Michigan leg.  I'm fairly familiar with Southwest Michigan (basically area codes 269 & 616) maybe even up to the Baldwin area too.  I could sure use some help in the Detroit, Flint, Northern Lower and all of the Upper Peninsula areas.  We'll need riders first and foremost.  Then routes to travel and landmarks for photo ops.  Then support (rescue drivers and flop houses).  Anyone can join in the ride, but "it" must be on a SOHC4 bike every mile of the journey.  I don't know the pick up or drop off points yet and definitely not the dates.

At this point, if you want to participate in the relay, in any capacity, please send me a PM!

What da ya mean "to cold"?  I took my CB500/4 for a run yesterday and here in Davison it was around 32F at the time.  It's supposed to get in to the 40's today and tomorrow and maybe up to 47 on Sunday.  If I can find some time in between rain showers I'll probably take another spin.

Yep, too cold.  Bring that humungous Vetter fairing over to Kalamazoo with some extra rain gear for me and maybe it will stop snowing.  If it dries out tomorrow, there's still gonna be tons of salt on the road.  whah whah whah

I'd love to ride out to Kalamazoo sometime, but not til my bike gets some work done on it.  Hope to get wheel bearings, head bearings and forks taken care of this winter.  Maybe sometime this summer.

SE / Downriver area here.  I'm looking to start building a hardtail 750 this year.  I've never been on a hardtail but it's something I've always wanted to build so I'm going to give it a shot.  I think if I find a comfy seat with some good shocks/springs I'll be happy for the kind of riding I do.

My Michigan brethren....
Wish I had the spare cash right now, but alas, I don't.
But the next best thing would be seeing this little jewel stay in the Great Lake State and happily owned by a SOHC4 group member.

If any of ya'll do anything with this, let me know later how it works out, ya know, for vicarious purposes.

Thanks for the tip Fuzz, but I'm already up to my eyeballs with the four bikes I have!

Sean, WOW! that sounds like a GREAT weekend trip!  Do y'all ride up or trailer/camper?  I see that kickstands go up at 6:pm.  Does that give ya enough time to get there and get pitch ur tent?

Yeah Old School, definately ride up and back. We  will have at least one van for haulin' gear/support vehicle.  The campground is very "lenient" about settin' up after hours.  They will come around and check you in, in the morning.  Last year was far from crowded.  We had most of the place to ourselves.  Always a pita setting up in the dark but there is electricity available.  Sometimes pitching tents is difficult after way too much Jager... ::)

Jager goes directly from "give me another" to "way too much" utterly bypassing "just enough."

Looks like there will be a new motorcycle event in Mich. this year. This is a first, presumably trial event. If everyone (ok, most everyone ;)) behaves, maybe it will become an annual event.

Sounds fun, but too big for my taste.
Here's one in late April, in Kalkaska that we're thinking of riding down to:
