Parts question?
« on: May 29, 2011, 06:03:15 AM »
Im getting ready to order a list of OEM parts for my 750KO. One thing Im not sure about, on the parts fiche below Im getting #27 fork seals, #21 fork gators, but do I need #17 and #22? I think there called cushions. I've looked but I don't see these on my bike.

thanks dhall

Those are used to attach and "cushion" the fork ears that attach between the lower and upper triple clamp. If you already have the ears then chances are you will be good to go though fresh rubber is nice to have.Depends on your budget and fussiness.Anxious to see yours all spiffed up,should not need a lot.

Pretty hard to see the lower fork cushions as they are up inside the fork ear there. Make sure you notice how those come out as there is a top and bottom. One side has a bevel on it. There is a top and bottom on the gators too. You will have fun with this project. I was surprised at how much KO stuff I could still get from my dealer. Oh, and crack that allen bolt on the bottom of the fork tubes before you take the spring out to replace the seals. Much easier that way to get that bolt out. Something that is unique to the KO & K1 is once you have that bolt out you can sort of slide the upper tube in and out real fast and is will pound out the seal for you. Pretty slick...

10-4 there Eric. Wish it was that easy on all the seals. I just replaced some seals on a CB360T and it was a pain in the butt compared to the 750's.

To remove seals take clip out first, and K0-K2 is same method.
On some K0's, the seal O.D. may be a different size, you may check that.

If you lube up # 17 & #22, the forks will slide in ....sssoooooo...... nice, if not lubed, bring a hammer..
