sunstar vs jt sprocket for cb550
« on: May 27, 2011, 03:36:23 PM »
ow this is the deal i want the lightest sprocket i can find

now the jt sprockets are made of c45 steel and the sunstar is 1045 steel.

now i cant really see the "real images" of either sprocket but from what ive been getting the feeling of is that the sunstar sprockets have a lot of drilled holes to cut down on weight and i think the jt are just solid.

now i cant confirm either or so i need help nor can i find the weights of either sprocket either.

I got Sunstar for my CB750 530 conversion and the quality is top notch.

I also have a JT front sitting here in the package and it looks great too.

I would say steel vs. steel the weight difference is going to be in the few grams range due to machining design differences.

Why look at steel if you are wooried about weight..Aluminum is 1/3 the weight..
Not light enough..machine more off.. if it just has round holes its only a start..

Someone will have them.. want to go lighter, run 520 chain, and thinner sprockets.. may have to thin your front yourself.
A lot of sprocket companys stock blanks the finish machine them for the orders as they come in..

xs, I've told you a couple times now that Sprocket Specialists has aluminum sprockets for around $65.   ;)

Well worth the extra $30 or whatever a steel one costs.
