Suspension Help for CL360
« on: April 21, 2006, 11:56:21 AM »
Hey guys. My bike isn't quite a four but I figured you guys knew a bit about the twins honda made. I own a '74 CL360 (who doesn't love scrambler pipes?) that's a little sagging in the suspension department. After reading the shop manual I found that the rear shocks are non rebuildable, the only option would be getting new shocks. Do I have to fork out $400 for a new set from works performance or is there an alternative? Should I look for another set from a donor bike? What bikes have compatible shocks? The same goes for the forks, except I can rebuild them... Should I put in new springs, thicker fork oil? Again, are there better forks I can put on from a compatible donor bike? Thanks for the help guys!
Kenny

i have a 76 cb and i know 650 shocks will fit with a little mod to the chain gaurd.  A 1/2 inch longer though.   The shock for a 750 that have been listed lately look like they would work too.  Also the 350 racers might have something.

Kenny,

I restored a '75 CL360 last year and suffer from the same problem - original rear shocks are weak and should be replaced at some point.

As far as the fork is concerned, I think you'll find that a rebuild will make a big difference in terms of performance.  I replaced the seals, covers and fluid after a thorough cleaning of all other parts, and the front end seems to have just the right amount of response now.
