Frame differences CB550k
« on: May 30, 2011, 06:37:55 PM »
im looking to buy some rear sets from fastfromthepast.com  but they only have a kit for the CB500k 75-76
i spoke to someone there and they said the CB500k fits the early CB550's so im assuming 75-76 also..

so my question is,

I have a 78 CB550k, is there any differences in the frame from the early 550's to the 78 550's?

CB500k 75-76?
I believe the cb500 (71-73) & cb550 (74-76) (cb500 bored 2.5mm) were same bike (w/gradual improvements) many interchangable parts.
The cb550 (77-78) was a redesign- frame, tank seat fenders etc.
I know this is true for the CB750's & think (remember?) is the same for CB550's.
Hope this helps.

The Tarozzi rearsets definitely won't fit the 77-78 bike due to the different passenger peg mount (I just got a set a while back).  You might e-mail FastFromThePast.com to ask if the Raask rearsets would work....I think they mount differently and don't use the rear peg mounts on the frame.  I could be wrong, though.  When I e-mailed with a couple of questions, he was pretty prompt in replying.

Good luck.
