Need power adaptor for VTX1800
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:37:17 AM »
Anyone know of a good way to add either a cigarette style power adaptor or USB port to a bike? I need it to power my Droid for trips on my VTX. Thanks.

You won't be adding any USB ports to a bike, but Powerlet makes everything you need for a cigarette style adapter. They're actually BMW style adapters, but they have some that terminate in a auto style power port. Check it out.

Great link thanks! That will help the accessories. Now I just need to figure out how I will hardwire to the battery, fuse it, then I can get some of the items from the link you provided. Thanks.

You don't say if you have a 1300 or an 1800, but I think you may have fused accessory terminals at the fuse box.

I bought and wired a sigarette socket and put in a retro eight ball sigarette lighter for its looks. Its functional though, I put the socket in a round tube i made on the lathe that has the same geometry look as the speedo bucket and placed it aside of it.
For a pic pm me!
