Fork nuts at triple tree
« on: June 01, 2011, 03:40:11 PM »
So I recently had to raise the ride height in the front because I couldn't adjust my clubmans without them hitting the fork nuts. Since then, the new position is killing my wrists and I need to adjust again. I took a picture of how far my fork nuts are sticking out of the triple tree. I'm trying to find
out what the stock height or adjustment should be. I've seen other bikes from pictures and it seems that the bottom of the nuts should be flush with the triple tree. I've looked in the manual and I can't seem to find anything that tells me the stock position. Can anyone elighten me?
Thanks,

I just did the fork seals on my 550 last week. The tubes (which were untouched from new I am confident) were adjusted so that the line that you see in your picture from the fork cap was at or slightly below the top of the tree.

In the end it's not important that they be exactly correct.

Just make sure that both legs are even. I try not to go any higher than the bottom of the bevel at the top of the fork leg. Don't lower the forks in the triple trees to the point that it causes the fender to make contact with anything under full compression.
