'73 cb750 brake line from master c directly to caliper
« on: March 01, 2011, 03:23:40 PM »
I'd like to bypass the brake light switch on my front brake line, going directly from the master c to the caliper on my '73 cb750.  Is there a brake line out there than can connect to that pipe extending from the caliper (I think it's 1/4 inch) and on up to the banjo fitting at the master c?

thanks?

Jeff

oh, and didn't mean to put a question mark after the "thanks".  I sincerely mean, thanks!

Not really the right place for this, as this is a place to offer tips and not ask questions -- but yes, you can, and it's easy.

Go to Spiegler http://spieglerusa.com/, follow the directions for ordering a custom line.  You need a 10mm banjo fitting (fitting 000) and a 10x1.25 male fitting (fitting 520), pick your colors, measure the length, add an inch of slack to your length, and call them to place your order.  You'll also need a 10x1.25 banjo bolt brake switch to replace the one in the junction that you'll be removing.

See, easy as pie.
Take care,
David

So do just a banjo fitting and a male bolt connect the line to the caliper (bypassing the hard steel brake line)? Can someone post a photo if they've done this?

I wanna go fast!

No, the caliper fitting is a 10x1.25 male adapter.  The banjo is used at the master-cylinder.

Replace the banjo bolt at the master-cylinder with a 10mm  by 1.25 thread-pitch brake switch (available on Ebay for $20 +/-).
Take care,
David

There ya go the Doctor has given you a full perscription.  The only thing I would add is when measuring the length you need, use a section of  hose, like gas like hose.  The stuff you can buy at home depot.  You can use this to route where you want the brake line to go.  It's allot more accurate and easier than trying to use a string or tape measure.
