750 carb question on float bowl vents

I am rebuilding my 750 carbs (657A) with a few parts from a (657B) rack. I noticed on both carb racks that in the #4 carb one of the brass inserts was missing in both carbs and no where to be found. I will try them with out it, but did a PO do that or did Honda do it at the factory. I have a pic with a an arrow pointing out the missing (?) brass part.
Do I need to try to find another #4 carb?

That is normal. Mine are the same way. That is a Honda thing. Not really sure why, but I also looked at a few extra carb racks I have here and they are all the same. Good luck with your build.

I thought it was weird that both were that way. I am doing a 73 750, planning to make it my touring bike, after I fix the electrics, the bearings, the forks, and on and on. Thanks for the response, I can finish the carb rebuild.

The carb bowls have interlink tubing between them to vent the bowls. #4 only links up on one side of it to #3.

The brass insert that is there goes to the linking tube as you say. I am curious that the other 3 carbs have two inserts. The #1 carbs in both racks have two inserts. I would have considered Honda to be more consistant in this.
It is all part of the fun and challenge to make these bikes sing again.
Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.
