Progressive Shocks - Fitting Issue
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:22:46 AM »
So I ordered my new shocks from Progressive. 1204's, and their site clearly states "standard factory size". I call bull......

I don't think so, knowing that my springs are in great shape, no need to order the spring kit. Well I come to find out that the stock springs do not fit! It appears that the Progressive replacements have a wider body than stock and the springs will not fit over them. Call the dealer back, springs are on back order and will not be available till 29 Jun.

I am scheduled to meet Godzilla and the Relay at the border right about that time frame. Can you say pi$$ed off?? Meeting with a buddy tonight who has an assortment of springs to see if one of his sets will fit with the Progressives. And of course you can't call progressive directly, that would be too easy.

Anyone have similar issues with this??

Thanks for letting me rant.

Here you go.  I have dealt with Dennis kirk a ton and they may not be the cheapest, but fast shipping for a fair price.

Not many left, so if you want them you better get them.

Installed the new shocks and springs last night!!! I was a little leery of how the black shocks and springs would look but after I got them on I am really happy with the look. My tank and sidecovers are a glossy black already so they all work together really well. The only hiccup was due to the larger diameter of the spring I had to cut a notch out of my chain guard to allow space for the spring. Not a big deal, I like playing with my angle grinder.

As for dealing with Dennis Kirk, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Customer service was great, and the parts were packed to a very high standard. My parts got here in the promised 7 business days, factor in that there is a Canada Post strike taking place which slows everything down a day or two.

Thanks again Tweakin, I thought I might miss the relay due to backordered springs but you bailed me out!!! Much appreciated. I'll buy you a beer if we ever end up in the same place in the future.

Now, on to my wife's bike, I got two weeks to have it ready to roll.

Thanks again to every one for their input and help. Nice to feel like part of the family........
