Engine Finishes
«

I'm restoring my first Honda 750. It is a 1975 K model. Can someone please tell me what the factory finish on the head and cylinders is? Is it raw aluminum? How do I return them to original condition? Bead blasting? Soda blasting?
Any help would be appreciated.

Its paint
Bead will get you the best result.
Clean it out and well after wards. including the oil ways.
Get a good head gasket kit with all the orings..etc.
Finish with Duplicolor DE1615 and primer or VHT.

Thank you, Chris. I just dropped off the parts to be soda blasted and picked up a couple cans of DE 1615.
I'll post some pictures when the project is complete.

Is Duplicolor DE1615 color very close from Honda original motor color?

DE1650 Cast Coat Aluminum is a little closer, IMHO. A semi-gloss that isn't quite as "silver" as their aluminum paint

This is how the engine looks with the bike near completion (click on the pic for a larger view). Unfortunately, this is as far as this build got due to frame problems. I think the color is pretty close to original, without having to make special orders for the real deal.
