Hey from Ontario.
« on: June 02, 2011, 06:56:10 AM »
  How's everybody doing?

I'm Mike, new to this forum but a member of others. I'm not new to old Japanese bikes and have done a lot of work on a lot of different bikes. I currently own a '82 CB900F, '86 GSXR1100 and a '97 Suzuki Bandit 1200 but they are in BC. I joined a month or so ago to learn more about the bike I'm working on. It's a '77 750K that I purchased 15 years ago as my first ride. I rode it for 3 years and then left it at my parents place when I moved to BC. It survived sitting in a field  for 12 years and one house fire which melted a few thing but nothing serious. I've been working at it for 2 weeks now on a very tight budget. My good friend helped me trailer it and my dads 83 Yamaha XT250 to his shop where I've been hard at work on both machines.

I've been really lucky so far on how things are going with the Honda. Carbs were perfect (drained before I left), tank only has a slight surface rust and I'm waiting on a throttle cable to get it on the road. I adjusted the valves, most were dead on and the cam chain has been tightened. Fed it some gas and it fired up with a few kicks.  The engine sounded great through the 4-1 F pipe. Just like I remembered. I used to set off Harley bike alarms with it years ago. I love this machine. I plan on taking it down to the frame at some point but right now I need wheels in Ontario.

 Cheers

Welcome charredremains! I am on the other side of Toronto with an 78 750.

It sounds like you know what you are doing. If you ever have a question you have found the right place here at SOHC4. A lot of friendly and very knowledgeable folks are here. There are about 10-15 of us here in southern/eastern Ontario on this board and thousands everywhere else.

Good luck with your bike. It sounds like you have a survivor!

Here's my welcome too, from another one of the ON guys.  I'm no expert but only 90 minutes away with a few resources, but as Cookingdaddy says, you sound like an experienced guy.  Hope to meet up sometime.  Cheers.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've already learned a ton about the sohc from this site. It's been a huge help. Just installed my new throttle cable. Going to have my first ride on it in 12 years tonight. I'm stoked.
