New Repro Honda exhaust for 77/78 750K
« on: July 06, 2011, 04:31:03 AM »
I have recently noticed Ebay items like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360375249316

He says:

Correct for Honda
CB750K 1977-78

Kit part #18000-405-778R

At last now available, and in stock complete replacement
Honda CB750K 1977-78 four silencer exhausts systems.
These are OEM parts, engineered by an original supplier to Honda,
so the usual high Honda manufacturing tolerances
and quality of finish are maintained.

Internal baffling is altered slightly in line with modern practices,
to improve baffling systems that exceed or maintain original performance,
but also ensure noise levels are acceptable.
These are cosmetically perfect

Does anyone have any experience with these? Are the parts available anywhere else, like from Honda? The Ebay seller is about 80 miles from me so I could probably drive there to pick them up but wondered if anyone here had more info.  Whose pictures are those, the little cartoon guy with a wrench? The price of $1000 is probably not bad if they are new and good quality?

Thanks

Thanks. cmsnl is in the Netherlands so shipping for me would be a problem.

Has anyone else seen these from other suppliers US/Canada?

Installed these about a month ago. The originals were swiss cheese.  Picked up my k6 about 3 months ago and in pretty good shape with 37K on it. Plan on a cross country trip end of august.
The quality is not as good as original. For everyday use they are fine. If your doing a showpiece probably not.  Head pipes are thinner gauge. Also chrome does not appear to be as good quality. In spite of this I'm glad I did it. Like the look of the 4 - 4 pipes. Per Hondaman's suggestion I had to grind down the footpeg sleeve's on both sides to get crossover tube to line up at the end of the exhaust. The fabrication jig for these are somewhat off.

I checked with the local dealer and they were available for about 30% above Bike Bandit. Went with Bike Bandit.
I'm cutting the exhaust off the old header pipes because the pipes are still in real good shape. May need them someday
I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Thanks for the info, I'd appreciate the pictures since I don't understand about the footpeg sleeves and the crossover tube. I am not sure yours are the same since the pipes for the K7/K8 are HM405, a bit longer and a different design than the earlier models.

The ads say the pipes are made by the original OEM. I'm curious if yours have "HMCB750K HM 405 SANKEI 2025" stamped on them?
