torque question.....What?
« on: June 05, 2011, 06:38:09 PM »
Just replaced the oil pan gasket on my '7s  8 550.  The workshop manual is pretty cryptic with what is what.  Does anyone know what the torque value is for the bolts to the oil pan?  Saw what said to be "oil bolt" (whatever that means), at 25 lbs.  That seems way to much.  Have it currently at 15lbs., and anything more seems like i'm gonna strip the threads.

Thanks.

On page one of the Honda Shop manual, it lists 6mm Bolts torqued to 5.8 - 8.7 Ft lbs.

Thanks.  I guess I didn't realize it was a 6mm bolt.  Much appreciated.

For torque values that low I never use a torque wrench. It'll make you loose your skill.

Wow, I'd say if you've torqued them to 15 ft. lbs. you're lucky you didn't strip them.
