Tool Question

Looking to buy a micro drill bit set and holder like in the pic. My local cycle mechanic uses them to clean plugged jets and master relief holes. One of the smallest ones he had was .0225 I believe. I was going to get a set from Snap-On but cost was over $40. These are super small and I do want some quality ones that are not going to break off on me. What are you guys using and where did you get it?

Go to a hobby store and ask for a pin vise. Thats what I use and it holds bits all the way down to .014. ;)

Look for model engineering supplies.
0.0225 isn't actually all that small, some drillings are only 0.013" (pilot jets may be smaller)
You will break carbide drills so use steel ones, they flex.
 Cheaper may be better, your only 'drilling' crud and corrosion so doesn't need to be super hard.
 Get set of pin vice though, easier to hold drills.

To clean a plugged jet you only need the high E string from a guitar. Copper wire is better since it is soft and won;t easily enlarge the jet.

I have an X-acto drill bit set. You can pick up a set of them at a hobby store. A stainless wire from a wire hand brush will work in a pinch for most carb orifices, be forewarned that stainless wire is susceptible to breaking if the wire is bent too much.

K&L makes a carb cleaning kit for older carbs for about $14. The slow jet on my cb550 uses the tinyest gauge of the set.

Johnie: On a job like this it is not so much the quality of the bit as much as the operator when it breaks just remember they don't like side flex.

10-4 on the side flex issue. That is why I was thinking a quality set for some strength. I will check out what the hobby stores have. I like the Exacto idea. I have a set of the Exacto cutters which are a quality item.
