fitting a muffler to my 4-1 (giant pipe?)
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:53:56 AM »
i have a 4-1 on my 75 cb750k.  the ID is something like 2 1/4 in, huge right? but i've seen other pics of open headers that look similar.  so do i just need to bend a pipe that's big enough on one end to fit over the header and 1 3/4 on the other for the muffler? i'd like to fit a emgo shorthy reverse cone, which by the way i used to see for $35 and now seem to be $60.
thanks for the help.

I'm sitting at my desk and nowhere near my bike, but looking at a ruler, 2 1/4 doesn't strike me a large for a 4-1 setup.

the kerker on my 500 is 2" but thats the older model (70's?) every other kerker ive seen is 2.5". i know what you are saying about finding a muffler... check with the guys at cyclex, they make there own reverse cone, and i think they can bang it out in a size close enough that a small reducer or enlarger would work to fit it...
