putting a cb750f exhaust on a cb750k4
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:43:12 PM »
I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to this question.  If I successfully mount an exhaust from an f model on a k4, will there be any problem with the k4 center stand?

Thanks.

I wanna say no, since the kick stands are the same from what I understand.

I think the rear mount points might be different since we have a bracket that connects the rear brake fluid reservoir, rear pedal, and exhaust.

Thanks.  Does that mean the mounting point of the the muffler to the frame will be different?  I'm tempted to get the f exhaust, but I don't want to create a headache for myself...

What "F" exhaust.?

I think it's from a '75 or '76.  The guy selling said he pulled it off of a k4, but doesn't seem to know much else about it.  I'd just like to know if it would be difficult to mount to my k4 and whether there would be any problem with the centerstand or the mounting the muffler to the frame, especially since the guy selling said the bike he removed it from didn't have a centerstand mounted.

Thanks for any advice.

This has been done before and there should be a thread or two on the forum.  The center stand is not the issue.  The brake peddle is the biggest issue and needs to be modified a bit by bending I think and/or changing the foot peg mounting by flipping or reversing the bracket.   The F pedal has a different pivot point, shape, and bends to clear the muffler.

Not mine but a K bike I saw a few years ago.

Stock CB750F1 with "F exhaust"  You can see the bracket with the brake pedal pivot point.  I'm not sure if the K has the same mounting points for the bracket as the F, and by looking at the K photo...I dont think so.  But I think something could be fabricated up easy to attach to bar and F muffler.

i was in the process of putting a "f" exhaust on my "k" and gave up after finding a free 4-2.... but everyone  is right about the brake pedal and mounting bracket.... but you'll also need to switch from the spigot mounts currently on your k, to studs found on the "f". not all that hard, but if your trying to do it on the cheap, all the extra little #$%* can add up!

Thanks for the info.  I think I'm going to pass on the f exhaust and find something a little easier to install...
