I already knew how good a nicely done SOHC4 bike can look... The real surprise to me is how good that Seca swinger looks!

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Pretty sure it's the shock that came with the swingarm (yamaha seca)   spring is powdercoated red.
I'll double-check

Yep, the oil is in the swing arms.   The shocks are from Fox.  Lucky bastard - evidently he has a hookup with them.

You could buy a whole hell of a lot of Fox shocks for the cost of those Beringer inboard brakes...

Yep - Fuller.   I'm gonna take credit for his somewhat new found addiction to CB's.  He's got a pretty cool 550 as well.

Took me a while to convince him, but once you give him the ball....he will run with it.   Kid has skills.

Brian and I talked for awhile last Oct at Barber, we talked about the 550 alloy tank and tail.
He seems like a good guy.....would be fun to work with him.....has a good eye and the mechancial skills to put them together.

 Nope, it's F****** SH**
A bike that can't be ridden more than around a parking lot without burning your toes off, limited ground clearance, crappy stock forks (be honest, they are)
Not sure about the 'inboard discs' I didn't like them when Honda made them, doubt if those on bike are any better May even be worse than stock DUAL disc conversion? (smaller diameter)
Stick to overpriced hot-rods, you don't have a clue with bikes

I think that these brakes are more sizzle than steak, but I very much doubt that a modern aftermarket solution from Beringer is worse than the 30 year old OEM Honda setup.

The first episode of that build aired last night on HD TV. The look on the original owners face was priceless as they started cutting up the frame. ??? He was very kind with his words, but you could tell he was distressed over the cutting it up. Curious to see how he proceeds from that point to where he ends up...

I specifically stated a dual disc set up. With the diameter of early discs and a good master cylinder that will move correct amount of fluid, they are probably equal to anything made today

Man PJ you talk out of your ass sometimes.    Berringer designs brakes for frickin' airplanes.   No way a 30 year old 500lb disc set-up (even a dual disc) will compare with that.   They will stop, and stop very well.

Can't argue the forks -

If it were one of us instead of a TV guy, would you have liked the bike ?   Be honest.

those are not aircraft brakes....those are marketed by aircraft brake makers....and only used for the looks.  there are MANY other brake set ups that could have been used if performance was the aim, either modern or vintage

Also i still maintain that the bike that they built will handle worse and go around a track slower.

That was a bike with a great story that is now reduced to a joke that will never be used an fade away

To be a TV guy you have a responsibility to show a hobby in a true fastion and help to show new people the correct way....this was none of those things.

This was not built by a member of the community
It was built by someone saw a bandwagon and jumped on.

I honstly would be more OK with things if they were honest and said they just built it to look at it....
when they start talking it up and say its things that arent true it is aggravating.

the whole show and this build have dont NOTHING positive for the hobby and its a shame as it was a good platform to do so

Being honest
Nope, I wouldn't have liked it.
Chet Burks interviewed me before first series
I may still end up as an 'expert' on safe motorcycles, if I saw it 'in person I'm sure I could find a lot of things wrong with it.
I'm sure that even with my bad back and recent surgery on my arm I would still be grinding chunks out of all the stuff hanging down
I doubt any of the 'vintage racers' would be able to lap anywhere other than Daytona at any real speed, the exhaust looks way too low and footrests not much better.
I was an MOT tester in Britain and since moving to USA I've seen a LOT or really dangerous stuff which people think is great because it's 'shiny'
Friend used to race CCS, some of the stuff on track wouldn't have been allowed to run if the 'tech inspection' covered safety items

BTW, for aircraft, SAFETY, weight and reliability are paramount importance, that is baically an inside out rotor with low airflow to rear of disc.
Just because it's 'trick' and probably VERY expensive doesn't make it 'better'
Hayes made brakes for aircraft, they were the worst bakes ever fitted to a bike
If you want to criticise my stuff, it's all over the interwebs, I'll even provide links if you want?
One thing, nothing I make is particularly 'shiney'
It is very functional though and as safe as it can be made, I would have no hesitation of actually putting it on a track and trying to see how fast it will go around then compare that to class record for that track.
Third time I've said it, without a fork brace, that bike will put you in serious danger if you try and push it, even with stock fender the front end twists
I was here before he jumped on the bandwagon and I'll be here after he jumps ship for the next fad

On a CB chassis with stock wheels & suspension I agree - because a pair of OEM discs with the single-piston calipers and the right M/C will generate more braking power than the forks, frame, and tires can cope with.

However, outside those narrow constraints your claim is ludicrous on its face.  Even with those constraints, I would expect a modern setup to have significantly better fade resistance than the OEM solid discs.

It is what it is - a piece of shiny, noisy rolling sculpture.  By the logic you're applying about lap times etc. anyone with anything but this year's GSX-R1000 is stupid.
