[see subject] and did they soften up at all? disintegrate? is it like dropping mentos in coke?  ;)

 the reason i ask is because i heard (via google) that this is a way to soften up old rubber again.  :o

try glycerin. i have never tried the trany fluid, but i have used glycerin to bring boots back to life before. works like a charm letting them soak for about 24 hours!

oh i know, i wasn't trying to beat a dead horse... i was simply seeing if anyone has tried this particular method. did a search for "stop leak fluid" (and variants) and didn't get anything, so i figured i'd see what ya'll had to say.

Do your search again but try "wintergreen".  Also, search EBAY for "tire softener".
