Yep BB, much closer to home, when Sweetie and me went to ride in North GA with Trav-i, Fabricator and Bluto we had a close one !! On the Sunday the 2 of us were riding at the end of the Richard Russell Scenic Parkway about 5 miles outside Helen a young bear ran out in the road right in front of Sweetie.
Narrowly missed it and it turned and ran back up the bank beside the road !! Luckily it was middle of the day too and not in darkness........ wow, shattered nerves for the rest of the day......
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

That is tragic.

I barely tapped a bear 2 years ago with the car as it jumped off a snowbank and ran in front of me.
No damage to the car and scared the bear.

:) Driving back from a Canadian fishing trip we hit a Moose in the Dodge Transvan. I was sitting behind the front seat passenger and saw the moose head come through the windshield and slap the guy in the front seat. Only cuts and bruises but the damn moose flew over the van and trailer emptying its bowels while in flight. It took 5 of us to move it to the shoulder of the road. This happened just outside of Kenora Ontario. We were able to drive to International Falls and get a plexiglass Windshield installed and then made it back to Chicago. The insurance company totaled the van. WE WERE LUCKY!!!

My sisters father-in-law had a similar experience with a horse and his Tacoma pick up.  It's actually kind of ironic really.  He is a large animal vet by profession, and was headed to a critical choking horse call.  He was only a few miles from his house (which is out in the country) when he saw a horse running a long the right side of the road, he started to slow because of it but never saw the horse on the left side of the road.  It ran right in front of him and he broad sided it at speed, it made it up to the windshield pillars of the truck.  Needless to say it totaled the truck but he was OK, but the horse was so badly injured he almost couldn't euthanize it (it didn't have enough blood left circulating in it body).  Right before he was going to put a bullet in it, it died.  Unfortunately so did the horse he was going to see.  Talk about one bad night.
