« on: June 10, 2011, 05:35:09 PM »
I've been on here for a couple weeks now and was noticing that almost all the bikes on here are stock or cafes and was wandering if any of u guys had any bobbers.  This is my first bike and so far i love this site.

that's still cool though...it doesn't look like you have any brakes up front...i got a 69 sl 350 complete front wheel.with a drum brake..a drum brake would really make that front look nice..pm me if you want some pics and are interested..

Here's my build. I'm currently bead blasting the tank.

http://s902.photobucket.com/albums/ac229/splitt4neb/kickin%20it/?action=view&current=IMG_4047.jpg

I only plan to run the front fender if there's a good chance of rain. The majority of the time it won't be on there.

I'll get the battery box mounted next week, then start tearing it down to paint.

It seems like that's a really cool job on the paint. If you don't like it you probably could sell it and buy a new tank and make a little profit. If you put that bad boy on Ebay somebody definitely would buy it. Better than destroying that work ya know?

Is that paint or a decal? If it's paint somebody definitely will. Just trying to help. It'd be cool to make some money off it ya know?

crazy pipes..did you make them?

That's a "Triple A" exhaust straight out of the 70's. They still pop up occasionally on ebay or craigslist.

When I was looking for an exhaust to put on my bobber, a buddy of mine, said I should use the exhaust from the cb750 we stripped down back in the early 90's. I had completely forgotten about it. It was made for a stock frame, so it stuck out 8" from the axle plate on the right side. I either had to modify it to fit, or learn to ride it making left turns only.

I cut the exhaust behind the collector, then picked up some stainless exhaust pipe from the local muffler shop. I dug it out of their scrap pile, so the price was right. (free) I welded in a couple of bends and lengthened it to allow it to hug tight to the frame tight and flow with the Cycle One hard tail.

The darn thing is kinda like a jigsaw puzzle to mount on to the spigots though. The pipes are made to go on in a certain order.

Here's what I frighten children and animals with in Oakland. I bought it as a $100 basket case for the Dirtbag Challenge, and found someone had raked the neck back in the 70s. There were boxes of parts wrapped in 1977 newspapers fresh from the chrome shop. Thick and delicious, like you cant get anymore. It's fast, uncomfortable, and dangerous. Still sporting the Oregon license plate with 1977 tags. I don't think it would be as much fun if it were legal.

Built a brat-style bobber over the winter - tore down to frame and detailed through-out.
Had a lot fun and learned a lot in building it - used this forum for answering many questions along the way.
