2 mill was a lame guess,more like ten mill if you count all the other honda models with fixed high tension wires,its not a poor design at all,no corrosion at the lead to coil insertion point,back in the day it was utter reliability that sold these bikes to a new consumer audience,the last thing they (honda) wanted was a simple ignition failure,i still drive a car with an actuall distributor and i remove the leads once a year from the cap and clean the green build up before it becomes a problem,for the average honda buyer in the era this would be a real pain,like tank off etc,for what its worth ive had high quality spiral wound wire on this car for about ten years,ive had the car for 26 years.
