ontario vintage bike insurance

when renewing your policy, you might ask for a quote from this place in burlington:

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45688

their quote was less than half my current rate with jevco.  plus they offer a 10% discount on multiple bikes (jevco doesn't)

they require a bike appraisal but it's still a good deal overall.   (they have a list of appraisers, and the fella i called said $90 for a home visit/bike appraisal, and $10 for my second bike.)

FYI, there seems to be some variation in appraisers' fees.   i spoke to John at 416 284-5244.  he is located in scarborough near the Metro Zoo.  his price is $90 for an appraisal within 25 miles of his home, and another $20 for each additional 25 mile increment, like this:

within a 25 mile radius is $90
25 to 50  mile radius $110
50 to 75 mile radius $130
etc.

If you shop around, you can find several other carriers who do not have an age restriction of 30 years.  State Farm will ensure older bikes, but they have a restriction that you must have other policies with them, I believe.  Elite is another carrier (Dalton Timmis uses them) and if you check with various brokers, I'm sure they can find insurance.  Its not all brokers who want to handle motorcycles, and not all carriers that provide motorcycle coverage take older bikes.

Just try www.gtamotorcycle.com & follow links

Jevco increased my rate by $1 this year but it's for only basic liability. All others eemed to want an appraisal.

The one mentioned in this thread is very cheap imo.

As mentioned, Jevco insures classic bikes. (no theft, liability only).
Be careful with the vintage insurance from Daltin Timmis, they have a strict 2000 km annual driving limit. They also do not allow driving to work, strictly pleasure riding.
